English medium education in Bangladesh


A large number of schools in Bangladesh are English Medium schools. English medium schools are mainly private schools, where all courses are taught in English except Bengali language issue at the normal level (O level). These schools in Bangladesh following the General Certificate of Education (GCE) curriculum where students are prepared to take its ordinary level (O level) and Advanced Level (A Level) examinations. The General Certificate of education system is one of the most internationally recognized qualifications, based in the UK. Examinations Ordinary and Advanced level are equivalent to the certificate of English School (CES) and the Higher School Certificate (HSC) examinations respectively. Most students sit for these exams registered schools in Bangladesh following the GCE curriculum. Those who do not attend a school that follows the curriculum may also sit for GCE exams ordinary and advanced level British Council. These tests are conducted under the supervision of British Council GCE Bangladesh.The conducted by the British Council takes place twice a year. Currently there are two tables operating in Bangladesh for ordinary and advanced exams, which are Edexcel and Cambridge University International Examinations
